This booklet is not about theory, but effective action does require accurate understanding of issues. This is the starting point when Diyanath Samarasinghe, professor at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, gives a user guide to adressing harm from alcohol use in local settings. Alcohol harm may be reduced.
This booklet is for someone who is interested in learning how to make even the smallest action count. Successful results are dependent on selecting not only the right approaches, but also appropriate and realistic targets. Building on some general background, 14 steps for action are suggested by Professor Samarasinghe. He has previously authored the more elaborate volume ‘Strategies to Address Alcohol Problems’. In its foreword Griffith Edwards, Emeritus Professor and world expert in alcohol and drug addiction, stated: ‘What is commendable about this book is its wisdom.
